Executive Directors Message
January 2010
Gary V. Hoover
Just because the holidays are over and we face the prospect of winter weather for a few more months is no reason to think things arent happening in Bellefonte! Continuing the theme of whats up, I am also happy to report:
Bellefonte has a new bakery: Flour Box Bakery by Anne Yorks. They make from scratch, handmade and decorated cookies to order. They ship and can do local delivery of certain orders: www.flourboxbakery.com. Check it out.
The Match Factory has had a number of contacts from potential business tenants looking for space.
The Chamber has been working with an individual that wants to move a book shop to Bellefonte
The Alliance for Bellefonte Community Development (ABCD) will soon be soliciting applications for façade improvement grants.
The Governors Pub is now open for business.
The Gamble Mill Inn will soon be offering selections from its on-site microbrewery. They expect to have the brewery in place by early spring, with the first beers flowing by April or May. The Mill is planning on pouring at least four of its own draft beers which will be available at the Mill as well as some take out options.
The Chamber is partnering with Historic Bellefonte, Inc., and ABCD to develop a coordinated marketing plan for Bellefonte and then develop fundraising and grant applications.
Despite the fire, it looks like the Cadillac Building will be coming back!
The Victorian Christmas event was a great success this year even given the weather on that Sunday. As word spreads the event will grow each year.
